The Fiji Book Drive

To re purpose educational goods for improved educational outcomes.2015 Melbourne Fellowship Project

Donations make the students feel excited and motivated to read more books and make good use of the library.

Project team

Fiona Luth

Fiona Luth has been helping Fijian schools and kindergartens for four years. She has freighted over 21,000 books and countless kindergarten supplies to remote, under resourced schools and kindergartens. She has helped 15 schools and 7 kindergartens.

The teachers of the schools she has helped report that Literacy levels are improving markedly. Some of the comments made by teachers :"I'm
Overwhelmed with the kind donation especially when serving one of the most disadvantaged schools in Kadavu" and "The donations made the students feel excited and motivated to read more books and make good use of the library."

Nearly all of the books and supplies Fiona sends are used but in excellent condition. A large part of her philosophy is to re purpose educational goods for improved educational outcomes.

This is a project that Fiona is 100% committed to and loves doing. Moving forward she would like to help all the schools on Kadavu ( which is the fourth biggest island in Fiji.)
