What was the most valuable thing you got out of CSL?
I was inspired and rejuvenated by the many amazing things people are doing to make change
Why are you passionate about sustainability? What was the moment or event that made you decide to become a 'change maker' in your field?
There were a couple of things that culminated in the decision to do the program. One was a trip to the Pilliga in northern NSW to camp out at the Protectors camp and seeing first hand the enormity of the environment threat first hand. Another was a trip to the gas fields in SE Queensland. The third was a weeks holiday in a remote part of Vanuatu. i had been there many years before. i was horrified by the amount of plastic and rubbish and the lack of resources and knowledge to deal with this problem. I went into quite a deep despair. i felt helpless and I was overwhelmed by the enormity of the problems and it felt hopeless. It was about this time i read active hope by Joanna Macey and not long after the opportunity came up to do the CSL RELP program. So i jumped at the chance. Im not sure that I'm yet a change maker in my field! But i feel more positive and am committed to making changes in my life both at home and at work and having a positive impact on those around me by my actions.
Why is leadership for sustainability important?
Because there are a lot of people who care and a lot of people who want to do something but need inspiration direction and leadership.
What do you plan to do next on your sustainability journey?
Not sure
