CSL Connected engages and inspires enthusiastic volunteers to join an active network of individuals working towards a sustainable future. This volunteer network plays a vital role in realising innovative and inspirational projects.

Who are we?

The Centre for Sustainability Leadership (CSL) is a non-profit organization that grew out of the conviction that the current crisis of sustainability can equally be understood as one of leadership. While it is important to acknowledge the important successes achieved by some amazing leaders, it also remains clear that such successes have been too few to halt the general trend towards worsening degradation of the planetary environment. And in the main, it seems that the managerial skills essential to good leadership have become confused with leadership itself, while what is perhaps the true defining quality of leadership — that of vision — has somehow gone missing.

The CSL mission is to create a new form of leadership that breaks with this trend: leadership that grasps the hard realities of the present but challenges the viability of the status quo as a model for the future, rather than surrendering to its inevitability; that imagines a future in which questions of sustainability are of central importance in decision making rather than expensive luxuries that can be jettisoned according to short-term political expediency; that realises that a healthy and functional Earth environment ultimately underpins a society’s economic fortunes, rather than being at odds with them; that inspires action rather than counselling complacency; and vitally, that builds the tangible, real world pathways that must guide society at all levels — business, community, government, family, individual — away from its current trajectory.
